Our read
The Defender Pro Scout Max HD exists under two FCC IDs. The 2023 filing, PSMHD, used a Telit Cat M1 module, a low-power category built for small data. The 2025 filing, PSMHDS, moves to a Sequans GC02S1 Cat 1bis module and adds Band 14. Browning’s manual for the newer unit lets you pick AT&T or Verizon.
Browning calls the 2025 camera “reengineered” and quotes 1080p images instead of a megapixel number, which is refreshingly honest. TrailCamPro’s test of the earlier version recorded a 0.1 s trigger, 100 ft of detection and the lowest standby draw in our data.
Browning plans run through Strike Force Wireless and are per camera, not shared. Unlimited is $14.99 a month, plus $9.99 for each extra camera.
Bottom line: The pick for no-glow and trigger speed if you’re on AT&T or Verizon. Factor in per-camera plans if you run several.
Maker claims vs filings and tests
2025 model sends 1080p Full HD images, "5 times larger" Browning product article
Earlier version tested by TrailCamPro had a 24 MP (interpolated) setting TrailCamPro review
Browning now quotes the real output size. 1080p is about 2 MP, which is honest about what the sensor resolves.
"As long as a year" on 8 AA Browning product article
6.5 months on photos in TrailCamPro's model (earlier version) TrailCamPro review
The lowest standby draw in our data (0.14 mW), but the year claim assumes light use.

Band labels are ours, matched from each frequency range. Output figures are the filing's ERP (below 1 GHz) or EIRP (above 1 GHz) values; they show what was certified, not how well the camera holds a signal. See LTE bands and carriers explained.
